Camila Freitas de Souza is a PhD candidate in Human Rights Studies. Her PhD project is an ethnographic study of Brazilian women's grassroots movements through vernacular, historical, feminist, and decolonial perspectives.

Camila is the developer and teacher of the course "Human Rights in Latin America: between top-down politics and bottom-up resistance" (MRSK62), and the X-Course "Decolonizing Women and Human Rights Discourses" (MRSL03), and she supervises master's and bachelor's theses in human rights. Camila has also been a guest lecturer and teaching assistant in the course "Human Rights in the History of Politics and Philosophy" (MRSM11) and "Human Rights in Modern History" (MRSG11).

Camila has previously studied at UNICAP (BA Social Communication), Malmö University (MSc Urban Studies), and Umeå University (MSc in Gender, Justice and Society). In the fall of 2024, she was a visiting student researcher of Gender and Women's Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
