About us

Since 2003 lecturers and researchers, from various disciplines, have conducted interdisciplinary research in Human Rights Studies at Lund University. Today our division is part of the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Theology. We conduct research from historical, philosophical, ethical, political, and legal perspectives. We are particularly interested in human rights in society and their role in democratic and non-democratic political systems, as well as what it signifies for institutions to respect and promote human rights. Our education started on a small scale with a few independent courses. Today we offer education at all levels; Bachelor programme, International Master's programme as well as Sweden's only Doctoral programme in Human Right Studies.
