I am a doctoral candidate at Human Rights Studies at the Department of History, and study advisor at the Department of Communication and Media. During the Autumn of 2021 and Spring 2022, I am on leave of absence from the Department of Communication and Media.
As a doctoral student in Human Rights Studies, I investigate how human rights are constructed as knowledge in the Swedish upper secondary school. I examine the perspectives on human rights that emerge in the national curriculum, in textbooks and in teachers' and pupils' own reflections. Through this, I want to understand the function that human rights fill in school and society. My results show the importance of rights language for how pupils and teachers make sense of human rights as content knowledge.
